What is Hot Air Roasting?

Hot air roasting is a coffee roasting method that involves circulating hot air into the roasting chamber. Conventional roasters involve direct contact of the beans with a heated drum surface, while air roasters utilize a “fluid bed” of air to heat the entire bean at once.

Benefits of Hot Air Roasting

Richer + More Distinct Flavors:
Hot air is more gentle on the beans, carefully extracting the origin flavors and bringing them to life in all levels of roast.

Energy Efficiency:
Shorter roast times and single burner allow for a higher energy efficiency in each roast.

Even Heat Distribution:
Results in cleaner, consistent coffee flavors with a lower risk of scorching the outside of the bean.

Lower Emissions:
Air roasting produces less smoke than conventional roasters.
